Real estate investing isn’t just about properties—it’s about persistence, learning from mistakes, and building something that lasts.
I’m the founder of The Rental Investor, and my journey in real estate started back in 2001. Like many investors, I began with a simple goal: create financial freedom through rental properties. Over time, I built a portfolio of more than 60 units, including single-family homes, a strip plaza, and a 24-unit apartment building.
Then 2008 hit.
The real estate crash changed everything. Like many investors across the country, I faced major financial setbacks and ultimately had to file bankruptcy. It was one of the toughest periods of my life—but it was also the most valuable learning experience I could have asked for.
Through it all, I was able to hold onto one key asset: my 24-unit apartment building.
That property became the foundation of my comeback.
Today, that same building generates enough cash flow to support me without needing a traditional job. Over time, I rebuilt, refocused, and grew my net worth to over $2 million—not by luck, but by applying the lessons learned the hard way.
Why I Created The Rental Investor
I started The Rental Investor for one simple reason:
To make real estate investing easier, more accessible, and less expensive for others.
When I first got started, finding the right paperwork, tools, and systems was frustrating—and often expensive. There wasn’t a clear roadmap, and many mistakes could have been avoided with the right guidance.
This blog exists to change that.
Here, you’ll find:
Straightforward, real-world education (not theory)
Practical tools and paperwork to simplify your investing
Property management resources to help you scale efficiently
Lessons learned from both success and failure
What You Can Expect
This isn’t a “get rich quick” platform.
Real estate is a long game—and I’m here to show you how to play it the right way.
You’ll learn:
How to analyze deals and avoid costly mistakes
How to manage tenants and properties effectively
How to scale from your first property to a real portfolio
How to protect yourself financially and legally
How to build sustainable cash flow over time
Everything shared here is based on real experience—not guesswork.
Built on Experience, Not Hype
I’ve seen both sides of real estate investing:
Building a large portfolio
Losing it during a market crash
Starting over and rebuilding stronger
That perspective matters.
Because success in real estate isn’t about never failing—it’s about learning, adapting, and continuing forward.
Our Mission
To provide investors with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to:
Build long-term wealth
Avoid common pitfalls
Operate more efficiently
Achieve true financial independence
